Cocksuckers wouldn't let me drive one. Salesman told me, and I quote, "Subaru drivers are picky. We've had guys pass up buying an STi because it had 5 miles on it. That's why we don't allow test drives." Who is he fucking kidding? not me. Anyway, the car is nice. Quick rundown of my impression: -Build quality definitely a slight step up from the Evo -17" wheels look like 18" in person -Hood scoop doesn't look as ridiculous in person -Steering wheel was big and plasticy and stupid looking -Seats were ugly, uncomfortable, and very cheap feeling. Look like they were made by Nike. Evo seats completely blow them away. -Shifter is very tall, but is very stiff and shifts feel exact, not mushy. -Car doesn't come with floor mats. -Engine bay is CRAMPED. Pity the poor SOB who has to work on this car. I have no trouble believing the rumors of this engine getting very hot. -Intercooler spray is manual only. Evo has manual and automatic. -Evo has much more legroom for both driver and rear passenger. With driver seat all the way back in STi, I could barely get in the back. In the Evo, it's not that hard (i'm 6'3"). Evo driver seat goes back much further. -Clutch pedal too close to brake pedal. If you have a size 8 shoe, it's perfect. Subaru dealer shit talked the Evo the whole night. "I got [sic] 8 Lancers out there in the used lot selling for $9999. An Evo isn't much more than taking one of those and putting a fancy wing and a turbo on. It's lower quality stuff. Mitsubishi doesn't even participate in rally racing any longer, they know they cannot compete against Subaru." (not true, Mitsu pulled out for a year). Price on STi is $32,180. They will not budge on price. Evo is $30,000. I know I can get it for at least $1000 less than that. So a $3000 difference, at least. So for $3000 more I get a car with 30 more horsepower, crappy seats, no sunroof, and no stereo. I think it's down to the Evo and the S4, boys and girls.
