    Check out this craigslist ad

    http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/clt/181156986.html

This rifle was a recent purchase of mine as of a few weeks ago; however, I have been informed by Household-6 that I currently do not have an authorization for this item on my MTOE.

Therefore, it's now up for sale to any Virginia residents. I'm asking the going rate according to the ATF & Blue Book value for this rifle in it's condition; $350.00/OBO.

It is in very good condition with small pitting on the barrel.

The rifle pictured below was manufactured in 1918 in England.

How would one prove him wrong? Is there another sort of Blue Book or something? I checked on gun broker and he does seem to be high (although a lot of the $100 ones have beat up stocks).

He's local, and I am looking for a rifle :o

    So.. $125 MAX

That guns not worth more. There are books you can get to tell value but i dont think the ones he listed even exist.

Dont buy something for the sake of buying

I will consider selling you the exact same gun in excellent condition for around $120-$140. No strap, but it does have the strap loops. No case, ammo, or bayonet. I was going to start a collection but decided that I'd rather spend my money on other things.

If you want to buy it, how would I ship it? Would you mind me shipping directly to you, or would you prefer to go through a dealer?

SmokeyJoe - find a dealer in your area

BMW1600 - find a dealer in your area

BMW1600 - have your dealer send his dealer a copy of their FFL. wet would be nice but ask if SmokeyJoe's FFL will accept a faxed copy. most will. some won't.

SmokeyJoe - ask your dealer to transfer it to his dealer, pay the fee and they will, after they receive his dealer's FFL

BMW1600 - go to your dealer when the gun arrives and pass the FBI NICS and pay your fee, ???, profit

that's way illegal so be careful

also, I don't think BMW1600 would be party to that -- if caught, he would be disbarred RIGHT NOW (if the VA State Bar is anything like the AZ State Bar)

You know what...I'm gonna have to say nevermind. I don't know you and don't have any way to protect myself from a scam. GL in finding a satisfactory gun, though.

What scam? You are required to use an FFL to transfer to another FFL, despite it being a royal pain in the balls, it's an automatic ass covering. Your dealer won't send it until you tell him, his dealer won't accept it until he gets the transfer fee. If anything, BMW's ass is swaying in the wind, assuming you're legitimately transferring it.

Caveat Emptor.. BMW, if you're looking for something old and widely available, skip that and look for a Mosin/ 1903 Springfield/ Garand.

why would smokeyjoe have to go to an FFL in the first place? just box it up, take it to UPS and mail that shit straight to his dealer.

Because some ffl's won't accept from non-ffls. It's a screwjob when it happens, but it does happen.
