Need to get this gun shipped from ohio to ca- seller said it would cost more than $40. He said he shipped a gun from Ohio to Illinois and it cost him $40 with UPS; WTFRIPOFF. USPS ship guns for cheap?

I have been charged 20-25 for getting handguns shipped to me. It should be way less than $40

$30 to get shipped from where to where? The gun is barely going to be any cheaper after shipping than just buying it straight from the shop here. USPS ship guns?

Wrong. USPS ships from anyone. You just cannot mail handguns with them. Handguns have to go to a carrier like UPS, and usually they want to overnight them.

Handguns are going to be more expensive. Most places want it shipped overnight which will be a good bit.

I think your only option is UPS.

I shipped a rifle USPS and it was $25 for Priority mail with $1k in insurance.

Ok. So you cant use USPS. You have to use a carrier, which will probably want it to go overnight.

i don't tell them about rifles, but it specifically says on UPS and FedEx website that you must tell them if it's a handgun.

Just put it in USPS box from the post office, place insurance on it and mail it, cost about $12.00. I used to be a firearms dealer and we mailed all our guns out by the post office and never had any problems. UPS has a problem of boxes marked firearms and magically dissapearing before they were deliveried.

You were an FFL. FFLs are allowed to send handguns to other dealers/officials through the mail. A citizen cant mail a handgun through usps.

And if you are putting a big "FIREARM INSIDE" sticker on your boxes, its your own fault. its against federal law for a carrier to place any type of firearm id on the box.
