go in the for sale forums, you'll see 5r barrels every once in a while.

Good luck though, they cost a pretty penny. IMHO you should just get a Remmy 700 from GAP.

5R just means 5 groove, numerous manufacturers makes barrels that are just as good or better.

i believe snipercountrypx.com has some 5R remmys left. I also know of a shop in Largo, FL that has a 700 5R mil-spec in stock as we speak. I saw it last weekend and fondled it along with the two 700PSS rifles they had. 949.99 for the 5R...

I too read the review on them...they have a slight edge accuracy-wise on the Police 700's but i see it as down the line youll prolly be re-barreling a target/precision rifle anyway so get the less expensive one and take the 150 extra you woulda spent on the 5R and put it towards a Krieger/Obermeyer/ Rock Creek barrel fund ;)

Ive had a Mark4 LR/T for a while now with no rifle to put it on.....its killin me.

Kind of on topic - what's a good price for a 700 in .308, with just the regular barrel?

well kinda....my local dealer offered to beat SWFA's price by 10 dollars on it and i was planning on a precision rifle build at that point. So i decided to get the glass outta the way and worry about the rifle last. Well fastforwarding a few months, i never got around to savin for the bolt rifle to go with it and my Leupold sits in its box.

I also cant make up my mind on whether i wanna go reasonable priced 700P or double the cost for an FN SPR. Or should i just kill my savings for a GA precision rifle lol.
Im probably gonna do the 700P...i dont shoot enough to justify the other two...plus, if i do my part itll be plenty accurate.
