Looking for a dedicated server to use mainly for gaming (CS and other games) to act as a server. Anyone know of a good cheap one? not looking for anything to major just me and a couple of friends want one.

First time going to operate a server, but will it have remote connection capabilities so that I can connect to it remotely and run things as if it were a computer beside me?

    what OS?

if you get full root access, yah.. you'll be good to go.

i'd assume for gaming you'd want at least 100mb/s.

you can get an unmanaged one from hostgator for 75/mo. it's what I have for my forums. :dunno:

there's only a few places i'd get a server from just 'cause if it's some new guy, your server might be gone in a month if the business goes under.. which is basically the only reason I go through HG. they're not going anywhere. :dunno:

it's the same as the basic plan on this page:
    http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated.shtml

by default, it's on a 10mb/s line. you can upgrade to 100mb/s, though, if you want. i think it's like 15 or 20 extra.

... i didn't say this, but on my managed dedi.. i upgraded to a 100mb/s line, & it was never added to my invoice :dunno:

Yea I would want a windows environment. I will check out hostgator. Quick question, can I host a website from the same server, with a full cpanel setup?

That's the reason I use the company that Host Gator rents its servers from, the planet. :mamoru:

 @ HG's dedicated prices... I can't believe they charge double for just reselling TP boxes.
