If you don't mind using openoffice.org you can get real, real cheap.

$279 and does everything you need. MS Office compatible, but not literally MS Office. A friend got one for his dad for Xmas. He likes it. Said it is a bit slow to boot, but quite fast after that.

awesome! can anyone find a better one than this? I'll check craigslist/ebay... but i'm always very skeptical of buying used electronics like this... i'm always afraid there's something wrong with them or something

here's what i found on the zonbu:

    specs-

$479 (its 279 if you get an additional $15/month plan for 2 years which comes to $639)

Not sure about the open office (never used it) but I'm definitley open to it. I will use microsoft onenote though (love it... have a copy of it for the laptop already) and can get windows XP + microsoft word fairly cheap (i have friends at university and they get huge student discounts)

    thank you!

Ack, missed the recurring fee! Still may be a good deal, as I think it comes with online storage?
