im basically looking for a real cheap (sub 2000$) little car thats a blast to drive and preferably a convertible. ive already looked at old 325ics and they are by far my favorite, i dunno why i just love those cars. also been thinking of old mr2s (do they come in t top?) and old 380sls.

that seems like a pretty small market, you guys have any ideas of cars that would fit the given requirments? am i missing something blatently obvious?

come on, help a wannabe euro coolie out :big grin:

Old BMW's will be really expensive to fix, as will any old Euro. However, if you get one that's fairly well taken care of then you shouldn't have a big problem with that.

$2000 isn't much for any car in my opinion :dunno:

E30 BMWs (1984-1992) are ultra reliable AND cheaper to fix than a Volkswagen...

I had a VW Rabbit GTi and my 1988 BMW 325iS is more reliable and the parts are cheaper and easier to work with.

    Look for a 325i

    I second that
if you want a fun, cheap roadster
    get an early NA6C Miata.

Merkur XR4Ti :dunno: Good examples can be picked up for $1-2000. As long as you are mechanically inclined, they're fun cars.

Budget at least $500 every 6 months for repairs on an E30 BMW.

Cheap, fun, and European don't jive.

dunno bout the US, but old audi cabrios are gettin well cheap in europe these days. these cars are nice, look stylish, offer an ok performance and decent interiors. plus they are reliable.

    only downside is fwd.

Seriously, I doubt you would find an old Euro for under $2000. I would suggest a mid 80s toyota corolla. Those were rear drive and pretty fun to toss around. Or look at a standard american muscle car. Maybe an fbody or an early 90s/late 80s 'stang.
