What are the cameras equivelant to?

If Im looking to buy a 3MP camera, why not a cheap 8MP one?

Why are these cameras so cheap? are the adds just lies?

The seller has a really good feed back rate.

lens quality, build quality, decency of the sensor.

buying something from someone who only deals with ebay always spells disaster.

Would you explain what that would effect. I can see needing to not drop it...

What does the lens quailty and sensor effect?

What camera would this one compare to?

    Thanks

lens is where the light enters the camera for the picture, if its crappy, your picture quality will reflect that. the sensor is what actually records what is seen, making the picture, if it sucks, so will the quality of the pics. as for the build quality, easily breakable, buttons stop working etc.

the lens is crap. probably made of plastic. :mamoru: and i guarantee you the sensor is crap as well. you can have a 16mp camera with a tiny, poor quality sensor and your pics will look worse than ones from a nikon 990 2.1mp which has a nice lens and good ccd. when it comes to small cameras the size of the ccd is a better determining factor for quality than mp because pics are recorded at 72dpi

that camera is equal to a 20D because they are both 8 megapixels. Megapixels is everything :mamoru:

Seriously, those 8MP pics probably look like shit. You get what you pay for.

most of those cameras use interpolation to achieve such "high" pixel counts. basically what that means is that it takes a picture at something like 1mp, and then multiplies the length and width by 8. ever take a pic at low res and then stretch it larger than it was in photoshop? avoid these cheap cameras, or treat them as disposable, portable webcams.

The camera is probably the equivelent to a camera phone. When buying a good camera, you have to have a good lense, especially if it isn't an SLR. If the lense is crap, the entire camera is crap regardless of the resolution or quality of the ccd sensor. The lense sadly probably is plastic. If it is too good to be true, it probably is. That saying applies to everything, dont forget it.
