you can't but when you format make sure that they dont have a printer with a card reader, usb memory stick hooked up, and if they have a zip drive disable it in the bios. since windows will access them drive letters somtimes befor c:

Same thing happened to me when I reformatted my PC. I have 2 hard drives and forgot to disconnect the second one, so I had a F & G drive. Had problems installing programs because it couldn't find the C drive. I had to disconnect my second drive, reformat, and then reconnect the 2nd drive. Was a bitch to open, unplug, replug, and close the case. Oh yeah, you can't change the boot drive back to C, I know because I tried...like jollyogre said, you'll have to reformat to fix it.

you dont need to reformat like the other guy says, post your operating system here.

if it win xp, its really easy. you go to your control panel and edit the administrator tools.

Unfortunatly, that will only change the drive letter. All the program shortcuts, registry entries, etc, will still point to F:.

It can be done, but it's really not worth it IMHO. Reinstalling takes so little time compared to screwing around with what I'm sure is already a bloated and spyware infested system.
