Seriously I couldn't believe how much was involved in getting the oil changed. I'm sure it will be a LOT better the 2nd time around but ...crap:hs:

    Just venting.

    How involved was it?

Just curious since I've never worked on a Gixxer.

I guess it wasn't horrible but I wasn't expecting it, you have to take the whole left faring off just to get to the oil filter, it was just a little tough getting it back together. I also broke a snap on the bottom/middle piece, went and bought another for 1.50.

Ah that's not bad at all. It will go much smoother the next time around. I too have to take off a fairing to get to the oil filter. I actually take off both fairings to check there isn't any loose bolts on the bike at every oil change.

Those plastic clip/retainers break all the time. You might as well keep a few just in case.

:mamoru: was a pain on my CBR with all the extra little plastic fastners and shit. pretty simple on the TL, just drop the belly pan, (6 screws) and drain and remove filter :wiggle:

i love my Kawi for maintenance... drop the belly pan with 6 dzus fasteners and 4 bolts.

oil filter is on the left side front of the motor, so not even my Akrapovic header gets in the way.
