My bench is going nowhere I suspect due to the fact that I am not giving enough time for my tricepts to rest. 2 weeks ago I reduced the number of squat days from 3 per week to Monday (5x5) and Friday (4x8) only and already up 20lb (245x5 now).

Been on the orginal Bill Starr routine for about 8 weeks prior. I loved it, it kept me in the gym, didn't miss a single day. Anyway, 2 weeks ago I made some changes, ditched pull ups for lateral pulldowns, and now:

Monday: Squats 5x5, Deadlifts 5x5, Bench 5x5, Shoulder Press 5x5 (if I can get through all 5 sets :wtc:)
Wednesday: Lateral Pulldowns 5x5, Good Mornings 2x12,
Friday: Incline Bench 5x5, Squats 4x8, Tricep Extensions 2x12, Bent Over Row 5x5

Any suggestions on what else I could incorporate? I have a lot of room Wednesday :hs:

    Should I get a belt for squats/deadlifts?

Thats when it originally was. I'd like my tricepts to have longer recovery time.

shoulder press doesnt really kill my triceps as much as some kind of tricep extensions. I personally would have left it the same way

Things I've enjoyed working into the Bill Star routine are shrugs and hang cleans.

This was never a problem for me and what I liked about the routine. My squat was pitiful and my bench didn't really need as much work (relative to my squat that is).

Also if you look back at what Christophers originally posted as his progress using this routine you will notice his squat and deadlift also took off but the bench did not gain as much.

How does this sound, 2x12 shrugs with dumbells and 5x5 hang cleans?

I'm going to start tomorrow :hsd:
