About time they started doing this.
"...underwear folding classes"
used to use tweezers to do it, too.
damn good idea all around.
I never passed the inspections when it came to my drawer with the socks, t-shirts and underwear. Damn tighty whitey's!
It's about fucking time AF basic got some balls. It's been a fucking embarrassment for as long as I can remember. And that's a long fucking time.
I am sorry we have a different mission that you might not undersstand.
Most of the Air Force still won't use this training.
they spend money to perfectly and exactly replicate a rifle? why can't they just give you the real fucking thing. no seriously wtf.
they should just abolish the air force and replace it with CAP. all pilots transferred to naval aviation.
lol you still never the rest of the AF to support planes flying, 2 percent of our force are pilots..
the rest supports the flying mission in various ways
imo good all around , stupid t shirt folding was a waste imo...
carrying a gun with you the whole time is pointless imo...
I spent 5.5 years active duty air force. I understand your mission pretty well. I also understand the fact that most air force are in shitty shape, as compared with most other branches - even if you compared them to similar AFSC/MOS.
You get MUCH more than just a hard time in basic by beefing up the physical aspects of it, and it's about fucking time the air force realized it.
i sat on mine after using bobby pins to hold it down
i just ironed them
They let you do that?!/
AF BMT sounds even easier than Reserve BMQ in Canada.
you werent supposed to iron but I did just not hardcore to make it too obvious...
they would say use your canteen with hot water.. lol yea right nig
i was dope at shinning boots so i never made my bed or did t shirts....
TI used to say oh I see who Evans buddies are here ...
ranger you spent 5.5 years in the AF what in the early 80s? give it a rest old timer
af out of shape well it depends i know a ton of people in the AF that are in great shape. we dont need people tleling us to do this and thatwe do it on our own
of course they noticed that the AF was getting bad so they made it mandatory and took away teh bike test which owned a lot of people. Though they have waivers for everything and its funny because all of the joint wings runs we have done I always see army guys in the back huffing nad puffing and falling out early
we do 3 mile wing runs and I always see the army slacking
Alot of the new physical standards have started ruining training for some people. The Air Force gave people 2 hours (regs said 1.5) to work out, and some people actually used this. I was able to recover from my first surgery on my ankle, because I was able to to my rehab, and do my physical activity during this time.
I also lifted weights, and swam and was able to recover pretty fast, etc.,
Then the crap came down. For some reason, they decided to make the 3 times a week with the squadron.
Guess what, I can't run. I, along with several other people, had to sit my ass down and watch everyone run and waste my time as well as the USAF's time.
Luckly, I had a cool doctor and physical rehab team, so I was able to get them to sign off on a letter that allowed me the time again.
I was raping it a little bad, but that is what they get. Work started at 7am, if we had Squadron PT, we weren't required to get in, until around 9am. So, I had to sit my ass around for a little while, go back, etc.,...
I also got to leave from work to start my physical therapy at the hospital at 2:00.
It was almost comical how much time I didn't work if you mix in all the appointments and other crap I had to do while I went through my MEB.
Sigh, honestly though, the USAF has a load of SHIT it needs to take a look at. Even without the PT or my own therapy time, there was just TOO MUCH BS we have to fill, waiver, audit, log, test, eval, write off, commanders call, shop/squad/wing/base additional duties, TO inspection, evals, etc.,
I think there was less than 2 hours a day to actually do the job that we were tasked as a shop to do.
7am-8am - morning gaggle and coffee wake up time
8am-9am - check e-mail, respond to silly crap, read the required base letter stuff
9am-10am - Get some work done, check tools out before, check TO's out, read over the 3 pages of garbage of TO then get to the few paragraphs that really matter.
10-11am - Pre-lunch time, colloborate with the civilians on where lunch is going to be, sit outside and BS with the smokers time.
11am-1230 - extended lunch, lol.
1230-130ish - after lunch BS time
130-230ish - get additional duties outta the way - check the truck (vech mon) do a quick inventory of tools (tools mon) assist the GS (haz mon)
230-330 - maybe get some work done again.
330-400 - shop clean up time.
This is a day without any voluntold crap/commander's calls/wing calls/PT/annual exam/squadron picnic/awards/etc/
If you really want to know, I personally think THIS is exactly the shit that makes the USAF lazy.
that sounds like a typical af day though some are diff then others
Come on, now. You can't actually believe that man-for-man, the AF is as physically fit as the Army or Marines. Stop deluding yourself.
I used to laugh at that every time I was doing my memory work
yea I wasted alot more than 18 hours doing that crap
we dont need to be as fit, as long as we can do our day to day job and war time tasks then whats the issue?
a co worker jack was a bit chubby but he runs all the time and last year pts test he beat me in the run, becuase his body while bigger he runs all the time
i owned him in everything else and he only beat me by a minute..
plus older then me
there is an air force capt taht always wins the all mlitary marathon, i know him too.... you guys always have a more strict pt program
im just saying a lot of the AF does this shit on thier own not becuase they are forced into it
plus you have no say about military when you were in like 20 years ago.. sucka
I did my time, I earned the right to bitch about it.
