Why do star wars nerds always get bent out of shape, when Lucas changes the original movies? Isn't it obvious that the originals aren't the way that HE wanted them?

Lucas is changing it because he can. He had a vision in his mind of what things were supposed to look like and now that he can achieve that vision he's making the changes to his movies...and people will still buy them even if they complain about it.

Bullshit. He re-released them with all the extra footage to try and make more money.

How do I know? I'm glad you asked.

I was watchin some old Star Wars behind the scenes special, and they said that the only scene George Lucas wasn't happy with was the Cantina scene because he thought the aliens, music, etc. was cheesy.

Go back and watch the special edition of Star Wars. That's the only part of the movie he DIDN'T change.

Kiddies: here is an example of a hardcore star wars nerd getting bent out of shape.

[there is no force..........it's just a movie.........]

Serious reply: If that is in fact the truth, good for Lucas. I think that it is great that this guy's makes so much money. Isn't that what the american dream? Make ton's of Money. Lucas had a great product that Millions of people want.

I might be wrong but I believe he wasn't happy with the cantina scene because they had to rush to get it done in time. He was disappointed with other things but couldn't get the effect he wanted due to lack of technology. Why else would they have filmed the Jabba scene in ANH when Lucas knew that Jabba wasn't supposed to be a man in a fur coat?

It's his movie to perfect or milk, however you see it. If the SW crowd wasn't always buying up SW crap there wouldn't be a market for this and it wouldn't be done. Blame the SW freaks. Supply & demand.
I do wish that Han fired first in the re-release. It just made the charactor a little rougher, which was good. His charactor made those original movies, and that's what's missing from these new one's. Can't replace Harrison Ford & Han. Not to mention anyone missing a 2' shot due to a Max Headroom head twitch is ridiculous. Other than that I liked the changes. He was able to add to the environment in most cases. Of course, he also seemed to add some kind of Ewok BS where ever he could, but so be it.
