I've started to gain a gut from sitting in a cubicle all day. I've stopped drinking sodas completely and only drink water at all times. My wife and I are also buying bikes to go biking. Will biking help burn off some of the fat or will it just increase muscle mass in my legs?

biking will burn calories which will help you lose fat assuming you are consuming less calories than your body needs to maintain.

what that guy said. Only one rule to weight loss....consume less than you expend in a day.

Biking will do both - burn calories and build muscle mass. The beauty of the latter is that the new muscle mass will then help you burn calories even when you're sitting in your ass in your cube.

Biking will burn calories. Eating fewer calories than you burn each day will help you lose weight.
