and it seems to have had a positive force on my relationships with females. is this shallowness, I'm still the same guy underneath the clothes... or is it preference?

:wavey: I like the new look  Looks much better in that pic than in the pharmokan thread :mamoru:

I don't think it's shallowness, everyone has certain things they are attracted to :dunno: I'm personally not a big fan of long hair on guys so I would find the shaved head more attractive.

BTW great choice of a pic of the before hair :big grin:

He didn't say he was doing it for females. He said it was having an effect on them.

    Love should be unconditional
Loving someone because they are beautifull is a form of layer or condition you put on someone before you like them.

You are spiritually evolved if you are able to kiss the ugliest person in the world and love that person completely for who that person is.

It's the rare person that absolutely doesn't care what you look like.
If they truly love you, they will look past things they don't like.

But let's not pretend that people aren't visually oriented, and whether you like it or not, the reality is that for most people, first impressions count, and what you look like, helps form their impression of you.

You don't have to like it, approve of it, or practice it.

But since most people on earth operate this way, it makes sense to be aware of it.
And if you choose.....use it to your advantage.

People are visually oriented. Your first picture looks more high-school age, where the second looks more college/young professional/MATURE. I think women are attracted to more mature looking men, obviously.

When I grew a goatee it made a huge difference as well. I noticed it like you are noticing it as well. I did it for myself, though.

Humans read books by their cover. There needs to be an initial attraction in most cases and it sounds like before there wasn't any and now there is.

No one can fake genuine interest in you so regardless of if you are the same person now as you were before you will still be in control of the women you choose to get to know better.

    Looking snazzy can't hurt :)

In existential psychology they say that there are 2 parts in each of us. There's the "Me" which is what we describe objectively (age, sex, looks, etc) and there's the "I" which is the experiential part of ourselves, the part that lives and feels stuff.
Usually, we think that someone who has a "Me" that we like probably has an "I" that we like to.
Our appearance says a lot about us anyway, we chose to present ourselves in a certain way and there are reasons behind what we do.

i don't think it's a point of the women being shallow (whom you've encountered)

when i look at those pics, I see a more mature/handsome guy in the second picture. you look very young in the first pic and it looks as if you are a fun guy. but when i look at the second pic, i see someone who's more "polished" and grown up...you look handsome in that pic. and to me being handsome is top on my list...don't care if someone else thinks hot or sexy is top on the list.

but that's just how i view it. and i don't think that's a shallow way of thinking

Uhhh doesn't existentialism say that there is only the "I" that is defined by our actions?

I have no idea, I am not familiar with philosophical existentialism.

well regardless, the bald look looks better for you.

sometimes a change in appearance can instill confidence in yourself, and that might have been what the women noticed.

nothing wrong with trying to look good. as long as you're not trying to be someone you're not.

how did you choose the new look you'd have, by the way?
