So at my school, there is some kind of firewall which does not allow me to use either LimeWire or Bit Torrents from anywhere.

Someone told me that I need to change my firewall settings (or maybe it was my ISP) and then I will be able to.

Any ideas? I'm kinda a newb in the sense that I don't totally understand all that stuff, but I have been using Macs all my life, so I just need a push in the right direction I suppose.

    Thanks,
    Derek

the school may be blocking those ports...if so you're SOL unless you go through a proxy...

if it's just your firewall go to system preferences->sharing->firewall then create a new exception for the port you want to unblock....

I think you may be SOL though...my school does the same thing

I was thinking I was too, until someone at school told me that they were able to use LimeWire after some changes they made.

Maybe you can tell LimeWire to use different ports.
