A friend was washing his car with a synthetic Chamois over the weekend and claimed his paint guy told him it was the best thing to use. I have never tried it, any thoughts?

Microfiber! Chamois have no nap and if any dirt gets caught between the chamois and the paint there is a good chance it will scratch.

No chamois, no diapers. Painters may know how to paint but they don't always know how best to care for it.

Washing with a synthetic chamois? I've heard of drying with one, but washing? Stick with sheepskin and microfibers......
