I've recently gotten into collecting some comics to go with my collectable room in my house. I would like to get them graded at some point. Which grading house do you think is better? I know CGC is connected to other collectable organizations but the cost is pretty steep to get a comic graded, ~$35 PGX is ~$10

on that note I just picked up a PGX 9.9 Jayne cover of the Serenity comics.

CGC is well known, however that PGX seems like a good buy. Never heard of them though.

I don't deal with graded comics but I've only actually heard of cgc

Is there a difference in ebay price between cgc and pgx?

CGC is pretty much the industry standard for grading, so I'd say any book you think would get an 8.0 or higher, send it to cgc, as it'll be generally worth more through them. Pretty much all collectors know and trust cgc. If you're just wanting to buy for yourself, and not so much looking to "invest" in comics, but want a protected book, PGX is a great alternative. Just my opinion though. :hs:

I haven't seen many direct comparisons on Ebay. But my collection focus is very narrow so it's not like i'm looking at a lot of comics.

I have both CGC and PGX graded books. IMO PGX has the much better case but the grading card looks nicer on the CGC. I think i'm going to be sending my ungraded comics to PGX though just because they are cheaper and I'm more concerend with protection than the name of the grader.

Uhm, pardon me for asking an obvious question but How do you read the books if they're inside a plastic shell?

They're in the plastic shell for preservation. Like museum artifacts: you don't see the curators keeping the arrowheads functioning.
