Is it possible to setup Safari to automatically download a certain file type to a specific folder instead of the default download folder and have everything else goto the default folder?

Torrent files instead of mixing them with my other downloads. But you get the idea.

Not in Safari but I _believe_ Automater can be set to watch a folder for new files then perform an action such as filtering the file and deciding to move it to a new folder.

I can help you with the Automater part, but I still haven't figured out how to have Automater attach to a folder and watch for changes.

Safari can't store specific files in specific folders. the automator action sounds like the right way to go

Hmm. I've been meaning to setup a bunch of Automator actions but I've been lazy. And I need to learn it.

    Sweet! Nice link. Thank you.

EDIT: I took down my troubleshooting screen shots, because I found the problem
Note: You have to put these custom folder action scripts in your Library/Scripts/Folder Action Scripts folder...doh!

In automator go to File -> save as plugin. Then under "Plug-in for:" choose "folder actions".

The script will be saved in "/Users/yourUserName/Library/Scripts/Folder Action Scripts" and the workflow in "/Users/yourUserName/Library/Workflows/Applications/Folder Actions"

So wait, which step in automater references the files in the folder the action is applied to?

as in, I want to rename some files when I drop them into the folder, I don't want to rename the existing files just the new ones. I tried get selected finder items, but after i drag drop, the first file gets renamed, then that file is the only file highlighted, and it keeps getting renamed (sequentially)
