Since this is the ART and protography section and i dont see anything but photography, i made this in the hopes that there are some OTers who do ceramics.

Feel free to post pictures or critique.

i havent made a portfolio yet, so these are just crappy shots of them:

the clothespin is for scale, of course. the second piece was burnished, which was well worth the effort.
    [IMG][IMG]
crystal glaze was also worth the effort.
    [IMG][IMG]
    [IMG][IMG]
    two dishes, raku'd and high-fired.

and this last one was my first attempt at translucent porcelain, though the glaze (for lack of better words) was bad.

This was from a few semesters back, and my last ceramics class. For the project we were given a word and it was "cups."

very elegant, and i like how its a "pair."

i like it more than my pieces, because since im less proficient at scultping, i appreaciate it more.

that wall mount bowl and the last bowl caught my eye, the other work is good and looks technically sound, but I like those more offbeat type of things :hs:

oh and thanks, it was my first time working with high fire glazes, that was fun

This was for our kitsch assignment. So I didn't have to make anything, therefore I didn't. The hands are made from molds, and I painted them to look like a huge public art piece (two hands in the same position) in town here. I found the tile to put them on at Lowes :coold:

When it comes to art, I'm a perfectionist, and I'm having a lot of trouble being consistent on the wheel....

One day i just thought, "hey. i think i will make the Stanley Cup." so i did.
not artistic at all, its more of a self-challenge. its approximately 3/5 to 3/4 the size of the actual cup, around 1.5 pugs of stoneware, thrown in 7 separate pieces.

    EDIT: GO DUCKS!

my friend. we are all Ducks fans at my high-school. actually, one freshmen's father is the CEO of the Mighty Ducks.

anyway, to deathbystereo, i would say the wheel is one of the least artistic parts of ceramics. its more about practice.

you have such lovely work, you do well with the larger projects and your glazes look beautiful:hs:

i took a few ceramics classes in high school. was a lot of fun and i enjoyed sculpture loads more than the wheel. i hated the wheel actually, but my Mom's a fan and is building a ceramics studio at her new house. who knows, maybe i'll get bored one weekend and decide to play around with the mud for a little while. :)
