I'll fully admit I'm a newbie to guns (only own 1 handgun), especially any sort of assault rifle. I saw that classicarms had a AR-15 made by Century Arms. I was wondering what the story was on these..

*I'm not really looking to buy, but it seems like lots of places have AR's listed for over $1000. Just was curious as to why these are lower priced.

For one it comes in the A2 configuration (fixed stock, 20" barrel, permanent carry handle.)

Secondly it's made by Century Arms. They import a lot of different rifles (WASR, CETME, etc.) and they generally butcher them when converting them to US legal.

I know nothing about Century AR's, if they're like most people someone else makes the recievers for them in which case they're probably ok. Now if Century is casting their own receivers... I think I'd rather buy a Hesse..

Interesting, like I said, I'm not really looking to buy an AR for a while. Just got curious about the pricing discrepancy. Sounds like it would have been something to pass on even if I was a bit more motivated.

if its going to be your first rifle, and you're waiting a bit anyway, i would recommend a complete LMT. it will do everything you need it to, and be priced close to the rest

I'll keep that in mind as I browse through stuff. If I end up with one, it is probably a couple months away at least.
