I turn on my new pc I bought and open up my drive, it opens, I put in a cd, it reads, but nothing after that.

So I go to my computer and I see no cd rom drives showing.

I go to Device Manager, nothing shows for dvd/cd-rom drives.

Open up the case and it looks like everything is plugged in on the cd rom drive, not too tech savvy so I really don't know.

    Any Ideas?

    Vista SP1?

Call up MS tech svc, they'll walk you through the process of deleting a registry entry, restarting the computer and then all will be fine. Happened to me after I updated to SP1 and is a common problem.

It would still show in the device manager.. They probably had you remove upper and lower filter registry entires.

Now that I think about it, I think you're right, I believe it did still show up in the DM. Not 100% sure either way. And yes, I removed one of those, I think it was the upper, again, don't recall.
