itunes rips in several formats. lossless, .aac, .mp3, .aif, and .wav. you can choose the bitrate for the mp3s also.

    just go to itunes/preferences/advanced/importing.

take a minute and explore all the preference panes within itunes. soon you will discover it is 100000000x the program winamp was.

I love the iTunes bashers in the main forum...iTunes is EASILY the best audio management/importing/burning program, for Macs at least. I have never used it on Windows but I can't imagine it's that bad.

on windows, it's pretty bad, one of the worst running programs i've used, i was most worried about using iTunes when i decided to Mac, but i really don't notice it, my only complaint is I don't have all my playlists from Winamp anymore
