My CD burner isn't recording... do I need a new driver? Every time I try to record (with whichever program) the CD burner doesn't burn anything. I have to quit the program and then eventually restart (if the computer doesn't do it for me). every time this happens, when I restart, the comp tells me that windows just recovered from a serious error and if i prepare an error report, it tells me that there's a problem with my ASPI (driver?) But when I go to the adaptec website like it suggests and download the driver help, it says my aspi driver is functioning correctly (which is crap cause it isn't). Anyways, any help you guys could give me... somewhere where i can download another driver, anything i can do to troubleshoot... would be greatly appreciated
    please help :x:

What model is it? I had a similar problem. But it had a very weird fix, I switched the ide connectoors between my 2 cdroms and it worked for a few weeks, then this same error would come up. never really figured it out, have a diff drive now.

I'll try to update the firmware (since I did have to mess with my mobo when I got a new vid card)... any idea where I should start to look for firmware updates?

This is a recent problem... I wanna say I didn't have any problems before I changed my video card, but i honestly don't remember when the problem started. I know it used to work, though :dunno:

make a boot disk for win98 or ME. slap it in your floppy drive and boot up. it will totally bypass your xp operating system and load into DOS. from there you can do your flashing.

after you're done booting from the disk, just follow the instructions starting from step 4
