the more bit rate FTW... 192-256
Whats the bit rate of the songs you have?
When you rip cd's you want to go to preferences and you want to turn up the bitrate sampling to around 192.

Does the song play smooth on the computer and then get fuzzy once on the cd?

Have you tried burning something other than music? If its doing this to all data, then its obviously a bad drive.

You could try and do a test cd, try burning differnt data, music, vids, etc on a cd and see if its cutting your data in fragments or damging the files as they get burned. This would rule out program troubles and begin to point out hardware issues.
If you have applecare you could just try that.
