If i get my CCW licence for PA, i'm pretty sure it doesn't transfer to NY right? I travel to NY quite frequently to visit family & friends, is there any sort of travel permit i could apply for that would allow me to carry with me when i go to NY?

Not NYC, western NY over by lake erie.

Most likely no. NY is one of the most restrictive states in the country. There are no such things as Travel permits, just reciprocity. If NY doesnt honor your permit, you're pretty much out of luck.

Unless you become a NY resident and apply for one there. Many people who have a CCW hold a permit in more than one state.

Western NY may be different from NYC which has a pretty much de facto ban on CCW. I would suggest contacting the sherriff/police dept from the county you'd be visiting and explain the situation.
