Any opinions? It seems that the 929 is much more confortable for longer rides, has sufficient power...but that 04 1000 is a bad ass machine, powerwise.

I'm quite happy with my 929. I think the early 1000rr was a little heavier too, I know it was heavier than the 954.

I've had it since early October, and personally put about 6k on it - it has 26k on it at this point.

Charging systems aren't the most reliable on them, cam chain tensioner ought to be replaced with a manual one too.

954 is a better bike in every way but storage space...

pretty sure your numbers there are off by a fair bit... it's more like an extra 10hp, but the weight difference is nowhere near 20lb. my impression was it's on the order of 5lb.

Had a 929 for 8yrs and put 36K miles on it. Great bike, I'm sure the 954 is just as good.

i've had a 929 since march of last year ... i've put about 10k miles on it since

not really any problems with it ... only problem I had was caused by me when I wired some shit wrong and ruined the MAP sensor and Fuel pressure regulator ... which was an easy fix.

What did you all pay (I realize that kiddr likely paid more that robles, lol) for your bike? I'm looking at one that is an 01 7k miles, micron exhaust and some a/m cosmetic bits (pegs, blinker, fender elim, etc.) for $4500. NADA is only $4k for average miles, but this bike is CLEAN and 2nd owner.

What do you guys think about the price? Too high? What do you think would be acceptable? Thanks for all the respsonses, btw. I have no friends that ride or have prior experience on sportbikes.

No, no. I learned on an F3, owned it for 4 seasons. I'm asking all the questions b/c it seems as if the 929/954 are much more rare than the r1/gixxers in my area.

I had a 954 a few years ago. The power was enough, lol. More than I needed actually. The comfort was okay, but much better than my torture rack 848. Not nearly as pretty though.
