Any reason I can't do this?

Looks like it'd work if they feed correctly.

    Thoughts?

You can try but the odds are very much against them feeding out of the mag properly especially once you get more than a few in the mag.

    BINGO!

"Now, getting on to the ammo that doesn't work so well - it absolutely does not like Blazer or Wincester X-pert hollowpoint ammo. It will jam, FTF and stovepipe on me. But that's the end of the "bad" ammo. It will shoot CCI CB short and long caps, as well as Aguila Colibris No Powder, but as you can expect, there is not enough energy to cycle the slide. You will have to rack the slide manually each time to reload the next shot. The CB caps sound like an M-80 firecracker while the Aguila Colibris is a little quieter, sounding like a loud toy cap gun. Incidentally, Aguila Colibris is nearly silent in my Ruger 10/22."

    1) CB Shorts are a different length than a LR so seems like they wouldn't fit in the mag properly (or chamber.)
    2) Even if you used CB longs, they probably don't generate enough pressure to cycle the action.

    You could try though. :dunno:

The gun store with the only reasonable price claims that their supplier is out, otherwise I would. It's not worth it to me to buy online and pay shipping + FFL because unless I can find one for ~230 it won't be cost effective.

There are plenty of stores here but the only ones that have the P22 in stock want 330-360 before tax. The gun store that sells it for 276 before tax hasn't had one in stock for almost a month.

I'm really not in a rush anyways :o

Tried out the CB shorts tonite. As figured, they won't feed worth a damn from a magazine, and are a bitch to try an load into the mag. to begin with. So, I opted for just putting one at a time into the chamber. They fire fine, and are noticably quieter. Also, as was expected, the slide will not lock back. Now all I need is a can.

Does the slide not move and not eject the case or does the slide not look back?

If you just need it to not lock back just replace the mag follower with one of those +3 followers, those are missing whatever it is that causes the slide to lock back on the final round.
