There is a going away party for a coworker later this month and they want to have it in the "Emma Long Metropolitan Park". Under the park policy page it says no weapons allowed. What is y'alls take on this?

I have no idea if they have a 30.06 sign posted or not, and I can't remember from my class if I can carry there or not.

call your local police dispatch and ask them?

State law and municipal code will play a part. I am not familiar with Texas law.

In oregon a city has the right to restrict possession of firearms unless the person has a CHP on them... Then the city cannot restrict that user's carry except for restrictions explicitly defined in a state statute.

AFAIK, You can carry in state/metropolitan parks in Texas with a CHL. Federal parks are a no-no obviously. Heck, I had my pistol case sitting on the back seat when I went into McKinney Falls the other day. The guy comes up to take your money and give you a tag, he didn't say a thing.

Starting at about page 70, it should have the information you need. If not, it will be in that text somewhere.

According to my chl instructor, even if it has a sign posted saying no weapons, it does NOT matter unless they have a 30.06 sign posted.

'Far as I know, the rules for government are entirely different from public places of business. They can forbid weapons without so much as a public notice and that rule will have the force of law. Most city parks around here forbid carrying, with less than half posting it anywhere on the premises.

That's assuming you have your chl, btw

Edit- and he was referring to parks, because my dad asked him if that applies to state parks as well. (they do a lot of camping)

Cool, thats what I was looking for, thanks.

I knew that, I was also hoping someone from Austin that had been to the park would see this.

    Yeah I do.

Are there any 30.06 signs? I don't care if it is just a policy that'll get me kicked out. I don't want to violate the law.
