not sure about VA but in oregon nothing but the permit counts as a permit so no more carry until you get a replacement. In OR you call em or visit their office and $50 gets you a replacement.

I say just wait until you are legal. Maybe the receipt in your neck of the woods is legal, I don't know. But if I were you I'd ask myself...

"If I was placed in a situation where if I was involved in a SD scenario (the reason you are packing for amirite?) how receptive would the jury feel about a guy "jumping the gun" and packing before his permit is actually issued."

That way you are protected from a legal standpoint and it won't be in the back of your head if placed in that situation. It just seems forever, you've gone 21 years thus far, you are almost there.

I OC'd all over VA back in November because my GA permit isn't honored there.

It was nice to be able to OC with no license and almost nowhere off limits. I almost felt like a free man.

And statements like that are why we'll eventually lose our ability to OC in this state.

If we don't exercise our rights we will lose them.

We've already got state legislators trying to do stupid stuff.

$50? Your county is pricey! It's only $15 for a replacement in Marion & Polk county ($50 for a renewal).

I may be wrong... But I recall a replacement being the same cost as a renewal in Jackson County. I think there's a diff price if it's just an address change.

    attitude much?

if i had the receipt from the courthouse for the purchase of the permit, i could be carrying tomorrow. they also gave me a phone number to call in case the permit came has not come by the 23rd. there are more than two choices.

i suppose i was just asking if calling the courthouse would actually amount to anything/if it was worth my time.

Or do what everyone else said and legally open carry regardless of what the public thinks...

Roanoke/Salme area is little different than NOVA area. In over 15 years living in NOVA I only saw one person open carry at WalMart (either I gotta get out more or people really do not pay attention to other's strong side hip :mamoru:). And that was very facinating to see, it's just something that I only read about on the internet.

edit: This was actually two days after I learned about OC being legal in VA, and I was looking for a gun on people's strong side hip.
