Can you bring a tripod as a carry on? I read something about it before, but can't remember.

I was forced to check mine on a floght 2 years ago. They considered it a weapon and said i could impale someone with it. :greddy:

I read conflicting views on whether or not you could carry on a tripod (seems to be up to the individual airline) so I just check mine. I never wanted to get through the security line only to have them tell me that I needed to check it.
