I know this is a heated topic on F&N, but what are peoples thoughts on cardio on lifting days? Do I need to balance it with pre and post workout meals ? Or is it just a ton better to split it out to seperate days? I'm training for a triathalon so dropping cardio completely is probaly not going to happen either.

I do cardio after all workouts except leg day, can barely walk soon after...

How many times do you work out a week? I go 4-5x so I find it sufficient pwo but if you only hit the gym twice a week you should probably go in on some offdays too.

when I'm cutting, I tend not too. When I'm bulking, I usually go on for 20-30min after I finish lifting

I cardio in the morning before work and lift after work.

Cardio on lifting days won't "hurt" you depending on your diet, but it really depends on your goals I'd think.

    Overall fitness, bulking, cutting, etc.

leg day is actually the only day i do cardio at the gym... i'll run for 15 or 20 minutes after

but on other days (any day, really) i ride my bike... so there's my cardio on lifting days

might not have enough energy on a cutting diet

and might be trying to stave off fat gain on a bulking diet

you're right, the logic isn't there, but i can see how he could make a case for it :dunno:

not enough energy on a cutting diet? up the cals a bit, add cardio, and you'll preserve more LBM that way.
