Help me answer this question from a friend:

Let's say I was doing hardly any cardio but just did weight training. Now let's say I decided to add 30 minutes of cardio 3x a week, while eating slightly more so that my net caloric intake remained the same. Would I lose bodyfat?

Assume clean diet (40/40/20 protein/good fats/carbs) and very little activity other than the mentioned weight training.

But doesn't cardio help your metabolism, which theoretically would help one lose fat?

Not really. There's some metabolic increase after HIIT, but even that is pretty easy to negate with food. It still comes down to calories in, calories out.

One thing I can say about this is some people tend to do better on higher carbs + more cardio/activity in general when cutting, whereas others do better with fewer carbs/calories and not so much cardio. Big YMMV thing there.
