Backup your pics on PC and then format it so you don't loose your pictures.

use a card reader (or the camera) plus some recovery software

i downloaded photorec but it does not recognize that the card is in the card reader. is there a better recovery software i should use? i also have a short (5 min) video, will i be able to recover that?

1 last question, should i format the card (erase pictures) then try to recover the pictures or try to recover the pictures before format???

do NOT format the card. the data is there but anything you write to the card will reduce the amount of data you can recover.

look into getdataback, they've got a free trial that will show you what they can recover from the card and you can decide if you want to pay for it (or find it somewhere :hsugh: )
