I'm dieting on ~2000 calories a day with around 200-220 grams of protein per day. In the cut diet book it talks about doing carb refeeds every 3rd day to keep the thyroid happy. I'm not following the cut diet, but it seems like an interesting idea to incorporate. Should I be having a refeed meal and, if so, how many grams of carbs should I be taking in for this meal?

Would a carb refeed day be ~2500 calories as opposed to ~2000 calories? Thanks for any input.

I didn't even know about refeeds until this Thread and the first thing I thought of was a large no cheese pizza tomorrow for my "refeed"

I refeed my carbs every 4 days.

I have read numerous sources that recommend every 3 days or once a week, etc.. I go with every 4 days because that seems to be a median. I refeed in order to keep my metablism guessing. Refeeding every two weeks will not accomplish much in the "throwing your body a curve ball" department. Plus I noticed that by refeeding every 4 days I can keep more strength in the gym than when I was only refeeding every 7 days during my last cut down.

At this point in my diet (2200-2400 cals daily) I generally take in ~ 150g's of carbs a day. On refeed days I will up my cals to 2500 or so and up the carbs from anywhere 225-250g's. As my diet progresses though I will get as low as 75g carbs daily and only 150g's on refeed days.

Refeeds depend on how many carbs you're consuming and how lean you are. The leaner you are, the more frequently you need to refeed.

I'm doing the cut diet and it seems to be working alright for me. Slowly but surely, I'm fairly sure I'm leaving my plateau behind. Problem is, I can't be sure since my scale weight stays the same (the desired result) and I don't have any way of testing my body fat by comparison to what I used when starting (Hydro test). Anyway, I do it every 3-4 days, depending on if I have a workout that day. I don't do carb refeeds on days with no extra physical activity.

I don't track carbs, but I'd guess it's around 200g and I'm not lean. Any idea on how frequently I should refeed, if necessary, and how many additional calories above 2000 I should go?

That's what i was thinking of doing. However, I don't think I'll go as low as you do as far as carbs are concerned later in my diet. Who knows though.

    Agreed.

You don't need to refeed.. The idea of a refeed is to "refeed" exhausted macro's.. In this case, if you are low-carbing or in keto, you need to refeed so that you can refill your muscles with glycogen, and also throw your body that curve ball.

Similiar to me.. I'm 12-14%, and I eat 50-70 carbs for 3-4 days, then refeed. My refeed is 250-400g of carbs, and nearly double the calories..

1600~ cals for low carb days, ~2800 or so for refeed days.

I wouldn't refeed every 2 weeks.. every 4th day or so is good.
