I really like doing things myself (great way to learn and plus I get more satisfiaction in saying I built it myself).

Anywho, I'm considering building some bookshelf speakers for my little home theatre, including the actual speaker box.

I've been googling all day and all home speaker stuff I look for come prebuilt and only car audio has the speakers alone.

Are the speakers the same thing? From what I read, they're built different - seeing as house speakers are meant for larger volume of space.

So yea, anyone built speaker boxes for their home using car speakers?

    Thanks for that guide. Wicked.

But back to another question; using car stereos for home, is that doable?

Also, I live in Canada so I have I guess that's an extra expense for ordering from US :hs:

you could but it's not going to be as good as using home-purpose speakers. I recommend you do it right instead of hacking it together with parts that arn't designed for your task.

Find a retailer that is in your shitty country if you don't wanna pay shipping. :ugh:

    :hsugh:

A car stereo component set can be set up to sounds just as good as a home stereo component set.

If you use crappy car audio speakers that are ment to get loud and not sound good the same sort of sound will come out of thoes speakers in the home environment.

However, if you pick up a decent pair of co-ax's or components you will be fine.

Remember, car audio speakers are often designed around a large volume and/or IB type enclosures.

I took a 2nd look at PartsExpress and some of its guides

Definitely gave me some ideas and inspiration.

Thanks for the suggestions, including the Canadian connection to audio source :)
