Okay i have two pretty different questions.

First...I just got a new deck for my car, couldn't even tell oyu the brand. When I turn on my car the subs get a huge power kick and pulse like 3 times, almost sounds like they're gonna blow. These subs didn't do this with my old deck. Any ideas on what could be causing this ?

Second...my subs have finally rattled loose some stuff in my back trunk area, what do you guys use to dampen the rattle. Dynamat seems overpriced, or is it really worth it ? Let me know, or else I may just end up taking out the panels that are rattling lol.

Thanks a lot guys, you are always of help to me :wiggle:

is good stuff, i have some myself and is a great deal

secondskin stuff is the best and is a bit more expensive and i have some of this as well and if your budget allows it its the better choice.

for taking care of some rattles most things should do a fine job.

to take care of the subs popping it could be a few things. to begin with, what kind of deck is it?

you want to check that it is grounded properly. maybe add an extra ground.

also, what amp is it and what gauge wire are you using to power/ground it?

i still can't figure out why people on-line trash talk fosgate... it has a low failure rate, and if you can't make it sound good... you shouldn't be installing.

like i said, it don't come back... and if you can't make it sound good, you shouldn't be in the business. i can't respect anyone's opinion, when they trash talk fosgate... because i deal with them everyday. they are not my favorite brand, but they are far from crap.

maybe it's because it doesn't fail, it can be bought almost everywhere, it's a well known brand, known for quality(except on-line), can be had at any budget, etc..

 jl hasn't been made in the usa since around the time they started offering amps... both kicker and jl woofers used to be made by credence in oregan, and about the same time they moved production to china(and when they did, the failure rate on their subs dropped.)... funny thing is both companies have not adjusted their prices to reflect the china made product(like mtx/coustic did for their enty level subs and full range that are made in china.), and still pull us made prices. maybe the W7's are made here, but the rest are not. fosgate still has more stuff built in the us, it's only the full range speakers and the entry level subs made over seas.

i would like to know how you get this information. for real. :nono:

W1, W3, W6, W7 are ALL made in the USA. They are all assembled in the Miramar, Florida plant.

The speakers/coaxials and component boxes are all made in Germany. The amplifiers are all made in the Phoenix Arizona facility.

The reason why the failure rate dropped is not because they moved assembly facilities to China dude, please...

actually i get it from a jl audio rep, and from the shop in town that picked up the line after we dropped it in 2k... in 2k1 the rep said that they were moving production to china, and the products would be better than when they were made in oregan. in 2k3 a former employeer of the other shop in town, said they noticed a difference in product after they moved overseas. late 2k4 when a rep called us, and asked if we wanted to pick the line back up... we ask is it still made in china, and his reply was i can not say. :dunno:

well all those reps are wrong. production was never moved to China. After Credence went out of business, all speaker assembly operations were moved to Miramar. that was around 2002. The difference they noticed were the product improvement because they were moved to in-house production.
