I usually just fall asleep or get really tired and dont process any of the information on the page...

and my attention just drifts all over the place.

You should see your doctor. There are a bunch of health issues that could cause this, including hypothyroidism, mono, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc.

I'm the same way... It helps for me to study in a rocking chair - the constant movement keeps me awake (and i just like rocking chairs).

It's like studying makes me tired. The longest I've ever studied in 4 years of undergrad is probably 3 hours, and that was with numerous breaks in between.

I just kinda figured that I've never developed very good study skills. I've heard that if you just force yourself to concentrate, you'll eventually get better and it won't be as difficult.

Could also be ADD, I have slight ADD and have to always be doing something or else I can't pay attention. I find it helps for me to spin a pencil or something while I am reading. Although, the only way I can pay any attention during lectures is to drink some coffee beforehand. Is it really a big problem though? Seems like if you need some caffeine to pay attention there isn't anything wrong with you necesarily...

The only way that I could read (in high school) was on the way home from school on the bus. For some reason, the sounds of and on the bus was something that my subconcious could filter out and stay active while I concentrated and read what was in front of me.

Hmm, I have a little bit of input on this aswell. Currently im drinking redbull.

Anyways, Ive probably got some ADD aswell, lots doesnt interest me so like right now instead of doing a test review, im online... :squint: damnit.

Hows your appetite? Try taking multivitames aswell, get them from GNC or something, its like 20 bucks for 90 caplets, they honestly do help me.

Alot of stuff also doesnt interest me, and if it does ill learn everything about it. If it doesnt, such as my college work I end up falling asleep. The only thing i can do is study in the morning when i wake up,because i wont fall asleep. Either way it ends up taking me hours to read like 50 pages or so,because i retain it so slow because it is boring.

Sitting still is actually a sign for the body to go to sleep, while moving stimulates the brain to stay awake , something you often see in bus rides where people fall asleep in their seats by the dozen, i usually just keep moving my right foot up and down so i don't give my body the do nothing and sleep sensation.

listen to music when you study.

Actually yes, to add on to the music part, its a big help. For alot things too, sound is a sense, and if you enlighten your senses (some aromatheropy stuff does this too) it makes other things in your brain more aware aswell.

When I have music on, I just listen to the music... =/ unless it's classical, then I filter it out. I cannot read while listening to music. I can do math problems, chemistry problems, etc. but I cannot read a book for class.
