I've got a gorgeous old model 68 from 1934 and i'm restoring it for resale. I'm an amateur at stock refinishing and can't seem to strip the lacquer. Any help is much appreciated, working on pics will post soon. Thanks

Couldn't it also cause it to swell / discolor / warp / crack due to the water absorption and high heat?

I would of thought that could be a possibility too but haven't heard of it happening to anyone. I've not done it yet myself but I do have a few AK stocks I plan to try it on in the future, I've done a couple romy stocks by hand and it sucked I think they just dip the whole goddamn thing in a vat of laquer.
