My throat is very dry. I cant sleep because I keep swallowing. I've been drinking water all day and eating cough drops. Anyone have any advice on how to stop swallowing every 3 seconds or how to cure this dry throat? Thanks

I can't sleep either tonight, which is totally not like me. It's really pissing me off...I've been tossing and turning for hours and hours. :(

I seem to alternate every other night between ridiculously small amounts of sleep and ridiculously long amounts. Typically I'll only get 5-6 hours on night 1, then i'll be so tired the next night that I'll sleep in and for a total of 10-12 hours. Then repeat the process.

It's probably really bad for me. For instance I'm up right now at 2:30 and I have to be awake tomorrow at 8 to head over to my house and open christmas gifts with the family. Part of it is not stepping away from computer/tv on nights off, and putting off homework until the last minute during times of school.. Another part of it is the cycle that sleeping 10-12 hours leads to me staying up late and consequently losing more sleep on the following night, simply because it takes longer to get tired.

So, I went to the store and got some numbing spray. Feels wierd! I think I'm up for the day though.....I'm sure I won't be the first person to get by off 2 hours of sleep.

breathe through your nose and it won't be necessary.

    a humidifier may help
and make sure you're breathing through your nose and exhaling through your mouth during the day

it's a possiblity...throughout the day you're talking and eating and creating more saliva...at night your mouth is at rest and could be drier

inhaling through your mouth can really dry you out

it's also bad for your teeth to breathe through your mouth because it dries off the saliva and allows the tooth to rot.

Moisture effects your nasal passages too. :ugh: :ugh: :ugh:

Not to mention you can still get a dry throat from breathing through you nose. :ugh:
