Problem: Users in a domain enviornment can't access website from within the network.

I.E. Users are in a Windows 2003 domain called chicken.com. Their website is also called chicken.com. The only way they can get to the website from within the network is to type in the IP address of the website.

Modifying the hosts file on a single workstation will allow the users to go to chicken.com, however there are over 50 users at this job site, so a manual hosts edit is not the ideal way of doing it.

I've tried manually adding a New Host in DNS that would have the domain name resolve to the websites IP with no luck.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks :)

It is a DNS problem... sometimes it can be a bitch to get working properly. Likely not this, but is the DHCP server set up correctly? Have you tried setting up any other domains and getting them to query that?

You will need to setup a dns entry for www on their corporate DNS (not www.chicken.com, just www) that resolves to the website's IP address.

Don't use host files. That's asking for trouble later on.
