So I thought I had decided on building an A2 with my new lower but now I'm not so sure. I do like the looks of a 20" barrel with A2 handguards, an A2 upper and a fixed stock but it really doesn't lend itself to any optics other than the irons. Now I keep seeing the M4 style uppers with a 16" Govt Profile barrel, M4 handguards and a flat top upper that looks really nice as well and they have a plethora of options for rail systems, optics and collapsible stocks (I would probably get a CTR right off the bat) for only $100 more than the A2 upper.

Also would it be worth it to spend the extra money to buy an RRA upper then add a LPK and buttstock or to just buy a kit from del-ton?

    You have Black Rifle Disease!

    I started off with a shorty w/ brake, then a 20in A2 DCM/CMP, and now I have a DPMS 20 inch A2 on order.

But now I really want a 16" Varmint flattop upper.

ACOG is a bit out of my price range, and wouldn't it be rather high with the carry handle?

I've done some research on Del-Ton and I've heard a lot of good things. Just depends if you want to shell out a little extra for the RRA. :dunno:

:coold: it gives you the look of an A2 style upper, but you get so many more options because of the flat top.

as for RRA vs. del-ton no idea :dunno:

My first AR was going to be one of their kits, but backed out when they started questioning the legality of its configuration in CA.

Can't blame them for not the ridiculous laws here, but I'd rather give my money to vendors who take the time to research.

they ship to CA but I was involved with a group buy. They said they could handle the volume and it ended up takiing them almost 5 months to get me my upper.
