Right now I have the 8 MP XT so naturally I'm thinking of getting this camera. Does anyone have it? What are you thoughts on it.

for starters, it doesn't feel like a point & shoot in your hand... and beside that, you have to ask the Canon guys, I shoot Nikon. :)

Basically it's your camera with live view, larger screen, more MP, and a self cleaning sensor.

You're not suppose to upgrade from a rebel to a rebel... Upgrade to a 30D and thank yourself later.

. i'm so glad i upgraded from the xt to a used 30d. the ergonomics alone make it more than worth it.

Replacing an XT with an XSi is like replacing a soft taco with a soft taco supreme :o

Dont let them hate. XSi is MUCH more camera than an XT is/was.

However, with rebates right now, the 40D and the XSi are almost the same price and would be stupid to pass up (if you have the money)

I don't think they're arguing that the XSi is a better camera. It definately does take nicer pictures with the newer processor, but the ergonomics are still that of an entry level camera. This isn't important for some, it is for others. Most grow tired of the small body after a year of using it on a consistent basis.

I'm starting with the XSi and I love it so far. Maybe next year if trends are going how they are I'll upgrade (I seem to get a new camera every summer)

So... the only advantage the 40d has over the Xsi is how it feels? What is the difference between consumer and prosumer?

You get the scroll wheel, mag body, and the top mounted lcd on the higher end Canons.
