    From http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/11/canon-patents-fuel-cell-dslr-were-ready/

Question: You're on that dream vacation in Northern Botswana photographing exotic wildlife when you run out of fool cells, WTF do you do? Or, you're on assignment photographing the troops in Afghanistan or hikers up Mt. Everest, or...whatever. How the fuck are you supposed to get replacement fuel cells? Canon might want to think this through a little more.

Hey Canon, how about throwing some R&D cash toward better AF systems and higher ISO rather than frivolous fool cell crap? :hsugh:

Yup, runs on hydrogen and emits water vapor. It's all stored in these little sealed disposable cartridges that go into the camera in place of a battery. The cartridges are about the same size as a BP-511 battery pack. Hmmmm...which one will fit in my camera bag, a battery charger or a hydrogen production plant?

Companies patent hundreds of things a year and never do anything more with them. I doubt they've invested any significant engineering hours into it.

They've been working on this for a while now. This isn't the first story about it, actually. Based on the other stories, I know it's a lot more than just patent sketches and I'm positive that they've blown several hundred thousand dollars on the R&D thus far. :hsugh:

Trust me, I know how Canon (and other F500 companies) R&D works. ;)

Hmmm... I wonder what the flight regulations on fuel cells are? Wonder what kind of battery life you get with them?

In for a solar based add on to my 1D. Shooting MX all day in the sun would surely keep it charged. I'm sure it could work since my camera gets hot as fuck!

Oh, and the fool cell sounds Meh.

Agree with him all you want, I'm working off of a bit more inside information that you guys have. :dunno:

And no, I won't be more specific.
