I haven't tried it, but I thought I'd pass it on...
My father-in-law has a G2 and I was going to get the G9 for him as a birthday gift. Looks like a good idea.
so all i do is call canon with a serial number from ebay pics and i get a g9 for cheap?
just when i told myself no more buying for this month
Damn I'd do it so I can carry the G9 in my pocket as opposed to my 1D.
Do you have to physically give them your old one though...?
Hmmm, maybe I can trade in my old S1 IS for a G9.
in for answer about sending in old equipment
I want to get myself a G9
Hmmm.... I've got an old S400 that's been collecting dust
Wish I could just apply the cash towards a lens
G9 for $250
what! whats its sucessor?
Yeah, it's been discontinued for a couple weeks.
G10 is due by next month.
hmmmm, i have a sd700 i bought for 45 bucks. do you have to trade it in? or can you just tell them your serial?
will the g10 have better high iso performance, really the only thing the g9 lacked
You'll have to call them and find out. I only know what I c&p'd in the first post.
Ask again in about 6 weeks after the camera has actually been released.
no love for my G1
buy a $10 broken qualifier:
I had the same thought.
Those are all killer deals.
I have an sd230 that has broken sensor, everything comes out really purple.
Too bad I already have a Rebel XT, should I get the G9 or SD850?
G9 is the better camera, but SD850 has similar form as your SD230. G9 is bigger and heavier.

cliffs: you have to send the old/defective unit back
Yea since I have a DSLR already I should probably just got with the SD850.
