Luckily I live near CRJ (Camera Repair Japan) and can get anything under warranty serviced (not repaired) for free.
Had my Sigma lens re chipped for the cost of gas.
I also live half a mile form KEH's main warehouse.
Damn that's cheap.
Hell yeah. I used 2 $100 repair vouchers.
I never got mine, even emailed them and got some sorry ass excuse.
The previous owner registered it and took the $100
Reminds me of a time when a customer brought in a 17-55 and had (somehow) sheered the mount off of it. I wrapped the bulk of the lens in some bubble wrap and put the mount and all the other tiny parts in a plastic bag and sent it in to Canon for the guy, A few days later I got a call from a tech with the lens... he went "Okay... so... Yeah... I have your repair right in front of me... and yeah... Do you have the rest of the lens? I can't do a repair when all you send is the mount.." I was all WTF... because I knew I sent everything.. I explained that to him and he put me on hold for about 10 minutes. Turns out someone in the receiving department only pulled out the plastic baggie, and left the rest of the lens in the box. When he came back.. he said "Yeah.. sorry about that... I'll tell you what... this looks like a manufactures defect.. I think I'll have to mark it under warranty."
cliffs: Canon repaired a 1000$ lens with obvious damage from misuse for free.
Yup. I've had nothing but great experiences with CFS. They replaced shutters out of warranty and a scratched LCD at no charge.
I've never had to deal with them, knock on wood, and only time I tried they were closed for Columbus Day when I was in irvine and wanted a good ole cleaning.
My dad has dealt with them many times though, and with unbelievable success. They still clean his d60 for free, but the amazing part is that he keeps breaking his printsers, i9100 and s9000, and they overnight him a new one first, then he puts the old one back in the box and ships it away, and they appologize to him for the inconvience I don't know what he did or said, but theres definetly something in his customer profile they're affraid of.
Did you send it to the one in NJ?
I just sent them my 24-70 Wednesday, which my GF dropped. I hope I get a similar "cheap" bill. It's still under warranty and doesn't show signs of being dropped, not even a scratch, but the focus is fucked. Waiting...

A repair voucher? I have no use for that. But thanks
