A&P Canon EF 28-105mm f3.5-4.5

    its a kit lens in the mid focal length range. all you gain is focal length

    It's an ok lens. There's not much else out there in that price range that's anywhere near as good. I have one that I no longer use and can't really complain about it. It's not the sharpest out there, but it's good enough. It's definately sharper than the kit lens and was a bit sharper than my friend's 28-135. Personally I'd save up a bit for the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, but if that's your budget go for it.

    I've got one...and it's a far better lens than any kit I've used. It's still not spectacular though. Usably sharp stopped down, pretty soft wide open - which sucks because you can't often use the extra speed vs. a 4-5.6. AF is decently quick on it though too. Good lens for the money IMO...which is why I've still got mine. Edit: I don't think anything's come with that lens as a kit in years, if ever :dunno:
