I am looking into trading up to a 30D but wondering if a kit lens off my film Rebel G EF(35-80mm) will work on the new digital body. Does anyone have any expirience with this and/or insight?

That is what I have heard from a few local reps. Apparently all EF lenses are standard?

theyll work. i used to only have my old film lenses. now i got the kit lense :noes: (18-55mm) for close up.

the one thing u need to remeber is that the 35 mm on film camera wont be the same as 35mm on the 30D, but rather the same as 56mm on the film camera. so as zoomed out as u can be it will still be zoomed in compared to what u want (if that makes sense at all) i would get another lense that at the highest low number is 18mm as well. (x-whatever) where x is <=18

O.K. ive heard explanations of that too. I figure i will most likely get acclimated with the 35-80 and jump quickly to something better, but i didn't want to pay for a kit lens and worry about quickly outgrowing it.

your lens *1.6 for the 30D
So it will end up like 55-128.

You will probably miss the wide end but that can be easily solved when you buy another lens.

  8. you will love the 30d :bigthumb:

This might work out better than expected. Pick up a nice wide angle FTW
