Torn between the two. I have the old Rebel G and the EOS (both non-digital). I have a lovely collection of lenses...so it's gotta be a Canon.

For those of you who've had experience with both...does it really swing that heavily to the 20-D to make it worth it?

Have you tried holding either camera? For me personally, the 20D was a better fit in my hand. Don't get me wrong, the XT is a great camera but if I am to hold the camera for a long period of time, it has to be comfortable. The XT was just too small for my hand to hold comfortably.

depends on what your total budget for camera + lens is...

20d is a better body no doubt but the XT is not crap.

I'd rather have an XT and good lens then 20D and kit lens.

I'm buying body only. I have good lenses (my baby being the 1.8L 70-200). I don't really have a budget because I can forgo other things for a month or two to make up the difference in price.

I have held the XT, and it is pretty light - much like my old RebelG. Does the 20D have more heft to it like an old school EOS?

If you can afford the extra $500, then go for the 20D.
    It is the superior camera.

this is true, and yes it has more heft.

I wonder what the new 20D will be and when... 2Q06 maybe?

might try and sell my 20D/grip/accessories a month before the announcement :o

I'd pay like $400 on top of whatever I could sell the 20D for to get a 30D or whatever even if it was just 12+MP and had a little bit better high ISO performance (more 5Dish).

the 2.5" screen wouldn't hurt much though... :o
