There is one local for $75, good flash??
sure, its fine. except you would be much better off with a EX flash.
EZ flashes are TTL, not ETTL, and will only work when when your camera is in the creative modes (no green box), and you have to set the flash power manually on the flash unit. The automatic mode on the flash wont do anything.
A 540EZ is a powerful flash, but if you can wing it, get a EX, they will work automatically or manually (not 420ex) and recharge faster.
Ya, I've been eyeing the 580EX for quite sometime, but figured for $75 it would be a cheap alternative till I can save up the pennies for the 580 or find a used 550
ettl is great, esp when you bounce. just get an EX, even a 430.
I'd recommend an EX flash as well. Not really practical to manually set the flash power every single time you take a picture (if you're doing event photography)
I use a 430ez on my 10d. It has to be used in manual, it's a bit of a pain, but the flash was cheap and I bought it to be used mainly off the shoe along with my sb-24
